Rebuild Control Groups Across All Shots
Version 1.0.0

Rebuild Control Groups Across All Shots automatically runs Source Filmmaker's Rebuild Control Groups command on every model in every shot of the current session.

INSTALLATION

Open the download and copy the included "scripts" folder into:

SourceFilmmaker\game\usermod\

If Windows asks to merge existing folders, allow it.

When installed, the script will be located at:

SourceFilmmaker\game\usermod\scripts\sfm\mainmenu\ChadChan3D\Rebuild_Control_Groups_All_Shots.py

Restart Source Filmmaker if it was already running.

You can then run the script from:

Scripts > ChadChan3D > Rebuild_Control_Groups_All_Shots

HOW IT WORKS

Normally, you rebuild a model's control groups by selecting it in the Animation Set Editor and choosing:

Utilities > Rebuild Control Groups

This script does that automatically for every model in every shot.

It uses the active SFM_DefaultAnimationGroups.txt to reorganize each model's controls into the groups defined there. After editing the Master file, run the script once to update every model and keep control groups consistent across all shots.

Characters and model props are processed automatically. Cameras, lights, and other non-model animation sets are skipped.

The script uses SFM's own native Rebuild Control Groups behavior rather than recreating the grouping system in Python. When finished, it returns the playhead to its original position.

COMPATIBILITY

This script uses a native Source Filmmaker function and is designed for the supported Steam version of SFM. If the expected SFM binary does not match, the script will stop rather than attempt to run an unknown native function.
